My first baby shower!

Melissa and Daniella threw my first baby shower for me this afternoon! It was so much fun, I loved it! The food was way too good though, I know I had way too much cake! But how could I turn it down, it was so yummy! Everything looked so cute too. Angela took lots of pics, so I wanted to post them to show off what an awesome job they did!

The fabulous hostesses, Daniella and Melissa!

Cake!

Food!

A collection of baby pictures of me-I'm so unobservant, I didn't even notice they were missing from the wall right by my door for an entire week! Oops.

Onesie garland! They're so tiny they look fake!

I can't thank these two enough for all the work and time they put into today! I love you both! :)

Also, I have more pictures to put up, and there are more that Melissa took on her camera that I need to get from her, so those will be up eventually!

Why, hello!

Just a quick update about some random things...

Toured the hospital this past Tuesday, which went well. The entire Women's Center is much smaller than I was picturing (I guess I was thinking more along the lines of a Grey's Anatomy style hospital), and I really liked it a lot. Maybe it's because of the size, but it wasn't nearly as scary or intimidating as I thought it would be, just very comfortable and quiet. Everyone I've encountered there has been really nice too, so I'm looking forward to delivering there.

Also, I'm all registered for some pre-baby classes, like Infant Care, Infant Safety, Breastfeeding, and all that kind of stuff. There are four different ones, and all of the dates I signed up for are in about a week and a half period, so it looks like I'll be spending a lot of time in Arlington at the end of August.

Blah, that's all boring stuff though. Here's something fun! It's a picture of the fabric I'm using (held up against a rug that I think I want to get for the room). I love it, it's so fun and colorful! Plus, I think it'll be pretty easy for baby to grow into the room and keep me from having to redo it quite so soon.

So I go back to the doctor on Monday (I already feel like I've been going everyday, I can't even imagine once I have to start going every week!), where I'm sure she'll tell me (again) that I need to follow the sick nasty Mediterranean Diet. Which really isn't all that bad, actually, but I'm having a hard time following it because I just can't help but take advantage of the fact that I finally have an excuse to eat whatever I want!

Because this will never happen again.

:)

In other news, I feel like I'm quickly becoming prepared for all the joys a baby has to offer, all from Elizabeth, the baby my mother watches three days a week.

She spits up on me at least twice a day. I'm becoming immune to poopy diapers, especially after one major blowout which ended up with baby poopy all over my hand. And just the other day, she started peeing before I could get a new diaper on her. Yay, pee everywhere! It's a good thing she's so cute...

Hmm...Oh, I went to the midnight showing of Harry Potter with Lauren and Kristin! Which was awesome and amazing, and OMG I love Harry Potter. I think it's no coincidence that Skeletina start kicking like crazy when the trailer for New Moon came on. She already has the same taste as me! (Heeey, Jacob!)

Either that, or maybe it was just the caffeine from the Coke I was drinking-yes, I cheated and gave in and had a Coke. I needed it, the movie was over two and a half hours long!

Apparently, since that first scare when I didn't feel her moving for a while, she's decided to be ultra-reassuring and just move and kick non-stop. All day. And all night. Hard. It's pretty entertaining now, but I bet in a few weeks I'm going to be ready to kick back! Haha, just kidding, I'm sure I won't mind that much!

Now I'm going to go make a Mediterranean-friendly salad for lunch...yuck.

Registering...

Ohh man...So Mother and I went to Target this evening to start working on my registry. And I realized something.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M DOING OR WHAT TO REGISTER FOR!

Ok, that's not true. I have a list of things I need to register for, but there are SO MANY different kinds of bottles, and car seats (oh good Lord, the car seats!), and pumps and the list just goes on and on and on...

I have a lot of research to do.

We're planning on going back in the morning, since we didn't get a whole lot done tonight-they ran us out of the store at 10:05, how rude! Haha, we didn't realize what time it was until they started turning the lights off!

So I guess I'd better get back to researching/asking other moms for their advice!

Dr. Cathy

Shortly after I found out I was pregnant (pretty soon after I moved back) I searched YouTube for some pregnancy-safe work outs. I found several by a lady named Dr. Cathy and added them to my favorites.

Well, you know me. That was back in April or so, and I just started doing them this past week. I've been walking on the treadmill semi-regularly (well, I got lazy for a few weeks, but I'm back on the wagon now), but hadn't really been doing too much other than that and some (extremely) light weight lifting. But Dr. Cathy is pretty awesome. She's out there in her little shorts and sports bras, at 39 WEEKS! If you were looking anywhere but her belly, you'd never guess she was pregnant!

I know I'm never going to look like that at any point in my remaining three months, but she's inspired me to at least continue doing some kind of physical activity to avoid become a whale.

Rock on, Dr. Cathy! Thanks for the inspiration!

Now I'm going to go eat some chocolate frozen yogurt! :)
